09 Feb People Matter
We’re made to do life in community with others. In fact, the people we surround ourselves with matter a lot. Your first boss, who you marry, high school friends, teachers and coaches, and more, all matter in shaping not only how we see the world, but how we respond to what comes our way.
Important role models are usually people we know, but sometimes role models can enter our lives through books. One book that has influenced me is Mean to Meaningful by Wofford graduate Ed Wile. This book is for you if you or someone you care about, could use inspiration and examples of how to shape what might appear as a challenge and grow it into opportunity. Everyone needs guide books in life and this is one of the best. This is the true story of a young man who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks who became not only a successful businessman, but someone with a rich and meaningful life. If he can do it, so can you.
Mean to Meaningful is a reminder, that if you want something bad enough, never quit, and work super hard life can be rewarding. It also reminds us to bet on people when no one else is betting on them including yourself. I highly recommend Mean to Meaningful. Take in the lessons and make a bet on others and yourself by going after life without ever giving up. It is never too early or too late to enjoy the best, no matter the odds. And, remember, sometimes Hard Comes First.
Respectfully,
Rod
