President Trump released a report this week about acetaminophen and a potential link to autism. I’m not debating right or wrong, as I don’t understand the science behind the plan. I’m glad autism is being discussed, and that is as far as I can go. Opinions on science, medicine, and politics aren’t the focus of this message, nor are they in my wheelhouse of expertise.

However, here’s what I do know. For family reasons, the report hit me hard right in the gut. It triggered memories, challenges, and feelings that are still difficult for me and many others. During a busy week of coaching and leading young people, I felt overwhelmed, and I relied on my faith, discipline, and values because, without them, I couldn’t lead effectively.

My friend Ed Wile and I have been leading a group of talented student athletes through a program called the Y Initiative, where we focus on faith, discipline, values, and leadership to prepare these elite young people live meaningful lives.

When the storm arrives, lean into faith, discipline, values, and leadership. One thing is sure: the next storm is coming, so make sure you’re well-versed and prepared in these four core principles. Faith in the Valley is a mantra that we adopted as a reminder to use valleys as tools to grow in our faith.

This short clip is a terrific tool to remind you that you have the tools at your disposal to handle the toughest life can bring and live a rich life. Dream big, work hard, and be kind. (click dream).
